Rebecca Gilby

Head of Partnerships

With a passion for teaching and 20 years experience, Rebecca is a qualified teacher of Science, teaching across all three disciplines to GCSE and Biology to A Level. She joined the Trust in 2015 which coincided with the inception of YHTT. Since then, Rebecca has contributed to its development through various leadership roles within the school, particularly focusing on continued professional development of mentors, host teachers and trainee teachers.

Andy is the Personal Development and Safeguarding Lead for The Constellation Trust of which we are part of.

Assistant Primary Lead 

ALISON WYND

Alison is an experienced primary school teacher. She has been teaching for 10 years and has had a variety of leadership and management experiences. Alison has worked as an Assistant Head, Curriculum Lead and EYFS Lead. She is particularly passionate about Early Years, Early Reading and SSP. She has taught across the primary age range and is an ITT and ECT mentor. "

ALISON DIBNAH

Primary Lead 

Alison qualified as a teacher in 1994 and has taught across all age groups in the primary setting. She has extensive experience in leading a range of curriculum subjects, mentoring students and new teachers and has held senior leadership responsibilities for over 25 years.

 

She has worked for the Local Authority and, for many years, as a Quality Mark Assessor. She has an Advanced Diploma in Education (with a focus on Curriculum) and the NPQH. Her main subject interests are in English, teacher training and staff development.

KIRSTIN HILGENFELDT

Nicola Steele

SCITT Administrator

After completing a law degree and finishing her legal training Kirstin came to work in the education sector by chance. She has been working in schools for 20 years in various roles and joined us in January 2015.

 

Outside of work her life is pretty busy with 3 small children so she enjoys more sedate hobbies like gardening, baking and cake decorating.

SARAH STEELS

Pastoral Lead

Sarah Steels has been teaching Science in Hull since 2008 and has worked in a range of schools. Her passion for teaching stems from her own interest in learning and development. She has held pastoral and departmental roles in a variety of middle leadership positions and is currently lead practitioner of Science at Sirius Academy North.  Sarah’s strength for behaviour for learning comes from the background she has in building relationships with even the most difficult children. Sarah is able to advise on career progression and issue relating to personal well-being.

SEAN THOMPSON

Physical Education

Sean has been teaching PE across Hull and East Riding since 2007. After gaining a BA honours degree and PGCE Sean spent some time in the States coaching College Football.

On his return Sean pursued his passion for sport and took a job as a PE teacher. Sean has held many positions, including Specialist Leader in Education, ITT Coordinator, International Coordinator and Sports Coordinator.

Sean currently works at Kelvin Hall School and has roles with AQA and the YHTT partnership.

Sean has been heavily involved in sport from a young age and has competed at elite and representative level. A great lover of the outdoors, he enjoys winter sports, golfing and hiking. He can still be found competing locally running and cycling.

JULIA WILLIS

Drama and Theatre Studies

Julia Quillin is Director of Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) and teaches drama at Sirius Academy West. Julia has a lifelong background in drama and the performing arts in her youth as a member of Hull Truck Youth Theatre and Northern Theatre Company. She attained the highest grades in both GCSE Drama and A Level Theatre Studies before progressing to study Drama and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London, one of the premier drama departments in the county.

 

On graduating Julia took some professional acting roles including performing in a run of a Noel Coward musical at the Sadler’s Wells but soon decided to make the move into Film and Television production working in the film industry in London for 10 years.

HEIDI MEEKE

Heidi is a Lead Practitioner of English and an SLE.  With over 20 years teaching and managerial experience, Heidi is a key member of the Teaching and Learning Strategy group and has valuable and extensive experience in lesson planning, lesson observations and teaching and learning strategies.  She is a coach, ITT mentor and has led highly successful CPD for both primary teachers (raising attainment at KS2 and effective transition from KS2 to KS3) and for secondary colleagues (effective assessment, student engagement, quality marking and feedback and Stretch & Challenge for all).

JULIAN MORRIS

Julian is a graduate of Loughborough University where he achieved a 1st Class BA(Hons) degree in Textile Design. He has been teaching for 20 years and is currently based at Bridlington School where he is an Assistant Head, overseeing Art, Design Technology, Performing Arts and Sport. Prior to his current role Julian has been Head of Art, Assistant Head of ADT and most recently ITT/NQT Coordinator. Julian has been the driving force behind Bridlington School being acknowledged for providing outstanding provision for ITT and NQT programmes. Outside of school Julian is a keen sportsman, he currently competes in football and squash in leagues in the East Riding.

ANNA SPENCER

Geography

Peter is the Director of Mathematics at Sirius Academy West and is also an accredited Lead Practitioner through the SSAT. Peter graduated from the University of Hull in 2011 and began his teaching career the next year in 2012. During his career, he has taught Mathematics through KS3-KS5 and he is also an exam marker with AQA. 
He has always taken an active role in mentoring trainees and ECTs for several years through a number of teacher training schemes.
Peter joined YHTT as Subject Tutor for Mathematics in 2022.

Amelia Harrison

History (maternity cover)

Amelia is a graduate of Hull University with a degree in History. Upon completion of her History degree, Amelia completed her schools direct and PGCE with Hull University and Sirius Academy West. Since the completion of teacher training Amelia has progressed to become the Co-Ordinator of History at Sirius Academy West in 2019. During her teaching career Amelia has mentored both trainee teachers and newly qualified teachers who have gone on to have very successful careers. Amelia is currently the maternity cover for the Subject Tutor History post.
